Abstract

1532216 Lubricant composition DUNLOP Ltd 24 Nov 1975 [4 Dec 1974 19 Aug 1975] 52342/74 and 34509/75 Heading C3R [Also in Division C5] The lubricant in a "run-flat" pneumatic tyre comprises a poly (alkylene oxide) gelled with silica having a surface area above 150 m<SP>2</SP>/g, in a weight ratio lubricant : silica not more than 100 : 7À5, and an ionic salt having a pH in 0À1 molar aqueous solution in the range 5À5 to 8À5, in an amount sufficient to produce a gel having a viscosity at 20‹ C. and 0À31 s<SP>-1</SP> of at least 2,800 Ns/m<SP>2</SP>. The lubricant may be mixed with a puncture sealant or an agent to reinflate the tyre.
