Abstract

1531966 Wet screening apparatus PLAST UND ELASTVERARBEITUNGS - MASCHINEN-KOMBINAT KARL-MARX-STADT VEB 11 March 1977 [30 March 1976] 10380/77 Heading B2H An apparatus for separating abnormal components from plastics granulate suspended in, and conveyed by, water comprises a housing 10 provided with a cover 11; a cylindrical screening drum 1 rotatable about a horizontal axis, open at one side, provided with scoop plates 9 on its inner screening surface and mounted in overhanging fashion in the housing; a feed connection 12 directed into the lower portion of the drum interior through its open side; a collecting funnel 14 having a discharge connection 13 and projecting into the upper portion of the drum interior through its open side for receiving the abnormal components deposited on the drum inner screening surface and picked up and carried upwards by the scoop plates 9 to fall into the funnel, the feed connection and the funnel with its discharge connection being fixed to the housing cover 11; and a discharge duct 15 forming the lower part of the housing for receiving water and granulate that have passed through the drum screen 7, the duct 15 being attached to a water preseparator 21 for removing most of the water from the granulate. The pre-separator contains a water strainer 22 over the inlet to a water discharge piece 27. The strainer may be fixed, Fig. 3 (not shown) or, as shown, may be swivelled by means of a pull-rod 24 and adjusting member 25. The pre-separator has a discharge piece 28 for leading the dewatered granulate to a drying device.
