Abstract
1530610 Sintered tool steel articles DAVYLOEWY Ltd 14 Dec 1976 [30 Dec 1975] 53124/75 Headings C7D and C7U Tool steel bodies are produced by heating tool steel powder in a non-oxidizing N2 containing atmosphere, preferably at 700-900C prior to compacting and sintering. The powder which may contain 6À2%W, 5À2% Mo, 4% Cr, 2% V and 0À8% C in addition to Fe is preferably packed in a stainless steel container heated in N 2 at 870C and cooled at < 50C/hour. After isostatic compaction at 40,000 p.s.i. the compact was hot extruded, heated to 1200C and then tempered in 3 x 2 hour cycles at 560C.
