1529798 Venting and dispensing insert MASSMOULD Ltd 7 Nov 1975 [12 Nov 1974] 48873/74 Heading B8T An insert for a container opening comprises a cylindrical main body 2, which may have external annular ribs 4 for engaging the container opening, at least one passage 8 passing through the main body of the insert to allow fluid to be dispensed from the container, sealing means preferably in the form of an annular lip 12 for forming a seal with a detachable container cover (not shown) so that venting of the container occurs when the gas pressure therein exceeds a predetermined value and spacing means, preferably comprising two annular ridges 14 defining two diametrically opposed gaps 16, two stubs 18 and a circular depression 20, in the end face 6 of the insert defining a gas vent path extending from the passage 8 to the sealing means when the cover is attached to the container opening.
