1529570 Educational appliances TOMY KOGYO CO Inc 25 Nov 1975 48440/75 Heading G5J A device for teaching the telling of time comprises a clock face 14 with hour 50 and minute 28 hands mechanically connected to corresponding hour 76 and minute 66 drums, having numerals thereon, which drums thereby rotate with said hands to present the numerical value, through openings in the front of the device housing, of the time indicated by the position of said hands, a cover 84 being provided to optionally allow the viewing of said numerals. The hour and minute hands, which are preferably mounted respectively on outer 22 and inner 16 shafts, may be connected by gearing, Fig. 4 (and Fig. 3, not shown). The hour and minute drums may also be connected together by gearing so that only a single rotatable connecting member 52 is needed between the hands and the drums. The gearing of the drums is preferably such that the hour drum only moves once per revolution of the minute drum. Rotation of the hands may be performed using a lever 114 which operates a pawl 128 and ratchet 38 mechanism, or by using a handle 34 connected to the minute hand. The cover is preferably operated by a lever 100.
