1529274 Ionically-cross-linked polymer compositions BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 7 July 1977 [28 July 1976] 31428/76 Heading C3P Polymer compositions comprise (a) a polymer having carboxyl groups, and (b) an aromatic extract, or hardened aromatic extract, containing polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons some of which also have carboxyl groups, the carboxyl groups in (a) and (b) being chemically linked through a metal atom. In examples, SBR and an aromatic extract are maleinized in admixture, and then reacted with Ca(OH) 2 or Ba(OH) 2 .
