Abstract

1529022 Light barrier ERWIN SICK GmbH OPTIK-ELEKTRONIK 27 April 1976 [28 April 1975] 17041/76 Heading G1A In a light barrier designed to detect snapped warp threads 17 a retroreflector 11 is used in conjunction with a source-receiver unit 16, 26. The retroreflector has a spherically corrected convergent lens positioned at the centre of curvature of a concave reflector. A current of air 18 is directed upwards to blow any loose threads into the beam 12. The retroreflector is made sufficiently broader than the beam 12 to ensure that the beam is always reflected back should the weaving machine cause the various optical components to vibrate. The light source may be a laser Fig. 2 (not shown). The detector may be associated with light diffusers such as ground glass screens or crossed lenticular screens.
