Abstract

1528983 Scaffolding joints GKN MILLS BUILDING SERVICES Ltd 21 July 1976 [24 July 1975] 30933/75 Heading F2M Builders scaffolding comprises an upright 10, 40 with an open-ended socket 13, 41 and a cross-member 11, 42 with a connecting member 21, 43 mounted near one end transversely of the cross-member and movable relative to the cross-member so that in use the cross-member is placed in contact with the upper end of the socket and the transverse element is moved to engage the inside wall 31 of the socket upright below the socket at 32 thus applying a wedging action on the cross-member at 20 or 47 to force the end into contact with the upright. The member 21 may have the cross-section shown in Fig. 4 such that the elongate beads 25 engage the shoulders 20 of the slot 19. The member 43 (Fig. 8) has ears 50, 51 press out which make it captive in slot 44 while slot 45 is widened at 53 to allow the ears through to rest on shoulders 57 for ease of erection and dismantling.
