Abstract

1528755 Synchronizing LICENTIA PATENT VERWALTUNGS GmbH 25 Sept 1975 [26 Sept 1974] 39367/75 Heading H4M In a t.d.m. system, in which ground stations are in TDMA communication by means of the transponder of a spot-beam aerial system satellite, t.d.m. frames containing channels allocated to the stations, to establish initial synchronization for a given ground station, the latter transmits a pseudonoise PN sequence periodically at the frame frequency, and at reduced level with respect to the established transmissions, the signal being returned to the station by the satellite transponder during a time window for each frame, the value at each given bit position for the N bits received during each time window, being summed over a plurality of frame intervals, the summed signals being used in a comparison process to establish synchronization for the given station. A summing arrangement may be provided for each of the N bit positions occurring during a time window, all such arrangements operating in parallel to sum the individual given bit values over k frame intervals, Fig. 2 (not shown), or a single summing arrangement may sum the first such bits only, for k frame intervals, followed by the 2nd . . .Nth bits of the N bit sequence over succeeding k frame intervals, the signal for comparison thus being derived in N.k frame intervals.
