Abstract

1528456 Tape dispensers J ROMAN 13 Aug 1976 [13 Aug 1975] 33764/75 Heading B8M [Also in Division B5] Apparatus for binding an edge of a sheet with a tape 37 comprises rollers (18), (19), Fig. 2 (not shown), for drawing an adhesive tape 37 from a supply 35 on a spindle 13, means for folding the tape longitudinally and adhering by pressure the folded tape around an edge of the sheet (see Division B5) and a peg 38 for guiding the tape from the supply 35 to the folding and adhering means, the peg 38 being adjustable, in use, in a direction orthogonal to the plane of the sheet and transverse to the lengthwise direction of the tape. As shown, the apparatus comprises a plate 11 for supporting the sheet and a plate 12 carrying a coil spring spindle 13. A plate 39 is provided to separate a backing tape 36 from the tape 37 as it passes around the peg 38. The peg 38, Fig. 5, comprises a cylinder 41 mounted on a fixed boss 43 by a threaded pin 45. The tape 37 is supported on an annular flange 46 on the cylinder 41 which is held against rotation by a key 39a on the plate 39 engaging in the flange 46. A sleeve 54 frictionally engages the cylinder 41. Rotation of the pin 45 raises or lowers the cylinder 41 for adjustment of the tape position to allow (a) different widths of tape to be used and (b) the position of the fold in the tape of given width to be adjusted with respect to the sheet edge.
