Abstract
152,706. Shepherd, T. May 19, 1919. Walls comprise two faces of rigid material, a skeleton framework spacing such faces a suitable distance apart and binding-material in the intervening space between the faces. The framework, which may be of wood, consists of units connected by longitudinal members D, the units comprising two uprights A joined by cross members B with or without diagonal members C. The faces are formed of slabs or sheets K, Fig. 7, of asbestos cement &c. and are fixed to the framework by nailing &c. The wall may be filled progressively as shown in Fig. 7, the cement or binding material being filled in after each pair of slabs K is positioned. In cases where the slabs K are not fixed to the framework, they are held in position by shuttering which is removed when the filled-in cement has set. The framework is modified to receive windows, doors, ventilators, cisterns, &c.
