Abstract

The reaction of hydrogen cyanide and chlorine in aqueous medium is carried out by all of the chlorine in the reaction medium present being dissolved completely by pressurisation. Reducing the reaction space limits hydrolysis and, at the same time, by virtue of the constant-volume cyanogen chloride reaction, considerably improves the space-time yield.
