Abstract

1525235 Fluid-pressure servomotor systems LUCAS INDUSTRIES Ltd 6 Nov 1975 [21 Nov 1974] 50455/74 Heading G3P [Also in Divisions F1 and F2] A valve 14 which may control fuel flow to a gas turbine is operated by a piston 15 restrained against sliding movement by applying fluid-pressure to a port 42 to urge the piston into increased frictional engagement with its cylinder whenever an electrical control signal falls below a predetermined value. The piston is displaced in normal operation by a pressure differential between passages 17, 18 communicating with a hinged control element 22 operated by a torque motor 24, a feedback signal from a transducer 31 being fed back to the motor which operates against a torsion spring bias. If the current supply to the motor fails, the element is moved by the bias to operate a relay valve allowing pressure to be applied to the port 42. A port 43 communicating with a return line 30 is situated opposite to the port 42. The torque motor may be supplied with signals corresponding to power demand and turbine operating conditions.
