Abstract

1525231 Electrostatic recording materials FELIX SCHOELLER 22 Aug 1975 [10 Sept 1974] 39505/74 Heading B2E [Also in Division G2] An electrostatic recording material camprising (i) an electrically conductive support or preferably a support with a conductive layer, (ii) a barrier layer preventing migration of ions and (iii) a dielectric layer and layer (ii) being formed in situ by reaction of components in layers (i) and (iii), both layers having been applied from the aqueous phase. As exemplified, layer (i) contains a conductive polymer with quaternary ammonium salts and layer (iv) is an aqueous dispersion of polyacrylic acid and styrene/butadiene copolymer or vinyl acetate-crotonic acid copolymer alone or with an anionic dispersion of styrene/butadiene copolymer or polybutadiene so a salt is formed at the interface and thus produces barrier layer (ii), other specified reactants are a blocked isocyanate in layer (i) and a diol in layer (iii) and Al salts in layer (i) with polyamide/epichlorohydrins in layer (iii). The exemplified support is paper with a surface coat of clay, starch and melamine/formaldehyde resin and then a conductive layer (i) of clay, starch and conductive polymer is applied.
