Abstract
1523824 Making glass fibres SAINT-GOBAIN INDUSTRIES 2 Feb 1976 [21 Feb 1975] 02623/78 Divided out of 1523823 Heading C1M Apparatus for making glass fibres, employing a main gaseous blast 12A and intersecting secondary gas jets (from apertures 36a), molten glass (from 37) being delivered to and attenuated in the zone(s) of interaction of the blast and secondary jets, comprises a plurality of fibre forming centres disposed transversely of blast 12A, each centre being associated with supply orifice means, e.g. orifice 37, for supply of molten glass and, upstream thereof, an aperture 36a, the apertures 36a being provided in a common wall 208 disposed adjacent main blast 12A, and the secondary gas jets being supplied through nozzles 207 which penetrate each aperture 36a. The nozzles 207 may be supplied from one or more manifolds 220.
