152,356. Koppers Co., (Assignees of Dieterle, E. A., and Semenow, S. D.). Feb. 15, 1919, [Convention date]. Precipitants, deodorants, and reagents.-Phenoloid bodies are removed from the waste liquors from ammonia stills, by passing the liquors through a filter bed of peat. Preliminary treatment may comprise aeration, separation of solids by settling, filtration through slag or other inorganic substance, which may contain iron oxide, and treatment with ferrous and cupric sulphate to remove cyanogen compounds. The liquor may be passed finally through a filter bed of earth.
