Abstract

1522326 Connector ESSEX INTERNATIONAL Inc 4 Nov 1975 [6 Jan 1975] 45807/75 Heading H2E [Also in Division B3] A crimpable connector has first and second U-shaped members 10, 12, the second member being located inside the first member, and joined along one pair of edges 16 such that opposed faces of the members are spaced apart; the inner surface 14 of the first member and the outer surface 18 of the second have serrations for piercing insulation on conductors placed between them upon crimping of the connector. Optionally, perforations 20, made from the outer side of member 12, form burrs (26, Fig. 3, not shown) so that conductors 34 can be crimped inside member 12. Fig. 4 indicates how the connector can be used as a splice clip for splicing seven thick conductors 33, two thin conductors 34 and a stranded conductor 36. For satisfactory connections the distances A, B, C should be less than or equal to the sum of two diameters of the conductors to be connected. A plurality of splice clips may be connected together by frangible tabs in a strip form and used with a crimping machine.
