Abstract

1521641 IC engine fuel injectors SUD MAINTENANCE 18 Jan 1977 [20 Jan 1976] 01978/77 Heading F1B [Also in Division B3] A method of producing a body for an electromagnetically actuable fuel injector for internal combustion engines, comprises machining a blind bore 2c terminating in a cone 2d, machining at least one bore 7 for the fuel, electrolytically machining an annular semi-toric cavity 8a, enlarging and truing cone 2d, drilling nozzle 9, and removing the edge between cavity 8a and cone 2d by a punch 18, Fig. 5 (not shown), removing the edge between cone 2d and nozzle 9 by a punch 19, (Fig. 5) and finally contouring profile 6a with a punch 20, Fig. 6 (not shown). The cone apex angles before final contouring are 90, 60 and 30 degrees. Nozzle 9 may be provided by a moulded plastics plate 10, Fig. 2, below the valve seat, as an alternative to drilling the metal block 2b.
