Abstract
1521533 Dyeing polyester/cellulose unions IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 1 March 1976 [25 March 1975] 12422/75 Heading D1B Aromatic polyester-cellulose unions are continuously coloured by padding or printing with a padding liquor or print paste containing (a) a disperse dyestuff containing at least one carboxylic acid ester group (b) a dyestuff capable of forming a covalent bond with cellulose fibres in the union or of becoming covalently linked into an amino-formaldehyde condensate, (c) a curable fully alkylated amino-formaldehyde precondensate, (d) a high molecular weight material containing acidic groups, (e) a volatile basic substance present in sufficient quantity to make the pH of the padding liquor or print paste at least 8, heating the padded or printed union to volatalise the basic substance and cure the fully alkylated amino-formaldehyde precondensate and subjecting the coloured union to a treatment in an aqueous alkaline medium at pH above 8 optionally in presence of 0.2 to 1 % by weight based on the weight of the bath of a synthetic detergent. Reactive dyes having a 1:3:5:-triazine-2-ylamino radical having a chlorine atom attached in the 4- or 6-positions are preferred, and disperse dyes having at least two carboxylic acid ester groups -COO lower alkyl (C 1-4 ) are advantageously employed as disperse dyes.
