Abstract

1521222 Snap-action switches A CROSBY 1 March 1977 [2 March 1976] 08322/76 Heading H1N A switch wherein cam means 16 operable from outside the casing 1 moves a lever 9 which snaps a metal switch arm 4 by means of a coil spring 8 so that a contact 19 thereon engages a fixed contact 7 has a safety member 14 carried by the cam 16 such that it lies in the path of arm 4 thereby preventing accidental engagement of the contacts 19, 7 by mechanical shock, the safety member 14 being removed from the path on operation of the cam means. As shown cam 16 is on a spindle 15 and is rotatable by a wire 18, while the safety member is a spigot 14 attached to the cam 16. The relative mounting of switch arm 4, lever 9 and spring 8 is such that the switch retracts on release of wire 18.
