Abstract

1518295 Eccentrics R V CLAY 1 Oct 1975 40087/75 Heading F2K [Also in Division B3] An adaptor 20 for a rotary cutting tool holder assembly in which a body 10 has a bore 11 to receive a cutting tool holder 12, comprises two co-operating sleeves 21, 22 each of curvilinear internal and external cross-section and arranged to be located one inside the other and to be rotatable relative to one another, each of the sleeves having circumferentially varying wall thickness, the sleeves being locatable between the body 10 and tool holder 12 so that the axis of rotation of the holder may be offset from the axis of rotation of the body 1 by relatively rotating the two sleeves. The two sleeves 21, 22 are conical, and are rotated relatively by a worm 25 and worm wheel 29 formation extending over an arc of the circumference of one annular portion 27 of the sleeve 22. The outer sleeve 21 has slots to receive the driving lugs 18 of the body, and the inner sleeve 22 has lugs 30 to engage slots in a flange of the tool 12. The eccentric adjustment allows a milling cutter to cut a hole larger than its nominal size by an orbital movement of the cutter.
