Abstract

1517849 Mounting gas vessels GAZ-TRANSPORT 24 May 1976 [22 May 1975] 21447/76 Heading F4P A vessel 2 has, secured around its circular girth to give it rigidity, a toroidal member 4 supported by a ring 6a fixed to a supporting structure, a plurality of sliding joints 5, 14 between the ring and toroidal member allowing for relative movement due to thermal expansion. The toroidal member bears on the plate through blocks 15 which prevent vertical loads being transferred through the joints 5, 14. Further blocks 16 of similar material are located between the male 5 and female 14 members of the joints. The member 4 is of channel section welded to the tank and is filled with insulating material. The ring 6a forms part of a box-structure which is supported by a plurality of columns on a base ring, e.g. in a ship.
