Abstract

1516937 Doppler navigation equipment DECCA Ltd 28 March 1977 [1 April 1976] 13350/76 Heading H4D Aircraft doppler navigation equipment comprises known means to obtain electric signals V x and V v representing the heading, and transverse, components of velocity in the A/C reference frame, using doppler radar signals reflected from the ground, which signals are fed to a computer which may be digital and calculates the A/C transverse velocity component relative to earth V y <SP>1</SP> from the following equation; where # is a signal representing the rate of change of aircraft bearing as measured by an onboard compass, and G is acceleration due to gravity, the term within the brackets representing an approximation of the roll angle.
