Abstract
1515893 Parenteral administration apparatus BAXTER TRAVENOL LABORATORIES INC 29 May 1975 [31 May 1974] 23389/75 Heading A5R A connecting device for location between a parenteral fluid source and a patient, comprises a main body 12 defining a chamber 38 therein, a first inlet 14 to the chamber and for connection to the parenteral fluid source, a second inlet 16 having a piercable resealable diaphragm 26 therein and for receiving needle-injected medicament, and an outlet 18, the cross-sectional area of the chamber adjacent the inlets being greater than such area adjacent the outlet and the chamber having inclined internal wall between the first inlet and the outlet. A modification is described having three inlets, all of the inlets being parallel to each other. Inlet 14 includes a plastics check valve 48 which moves downwardly from a shoulder 50 when fluid flows into the said inlet. The device is moulded from pierce-resistant plastics. The main body 12 is sonically welded to a circumferential flange 30 of a top member 28 containing the inlets.
