Abstract

1515277 Dispensing articles; endless conveyers A E LENTON (WISBECH) LTD 30 Oct 1975 [28 Nov 1974 10 July 1975] 51544/74 and 29138/75 Headings B8U and B8A Apparatus for forming articles into groups, each of which has the same number of articles, comprises a delivery station 16 formed by an inclined tray 14 which is divided into ten article paths 18 by guides 20 so that the articles roll downwardly along the paths 18 assisted by an endless belt 61 associated with each path, and the foremost article in each path is retained in a catchment formed by wire fingers 22 from which it is removed by fingers 24 mounted on an endless belt 28, the finger being mounted in spaced rows along the belt 28 so that in the embodiment shown, each row of fingers 24 removes ten articles from the tray fingers 22, each group of ten articles being successively fed to a shoot (36), and each finger 24 is capable of occupying an upright operative position and a lowered inoperative position (24<SP>1</SP>) in which it will not be able to engage with an article retained by the fingers 22, Fig. 1 (not shown). The belts 61 are provided with tufts (64) for engaging the articles, Fig. 4 (not shown).
