Abstract

1515270 Mower conditioners CLAYSON NV 29 March 1977 13116/77 Heading A1F A mower-conditioner comprises a mower having a plurality of drum type cutter units and rotary crop conditioning and spreading means mounted behind the mower so as to operate on the cut crop the cutter drums being arranged in pairs with corresponding pairs of crop conditioning and spreading means disposed behind respective pairs of drums and rotatable about generally upright axes. The mower is described in Specification 1515268 and 1515269. The conditioner 128 comprises beaters 130, one beater being located behind each cutter unit 10. Each beater comprises an upright shaft 131 and rake tines 132. The shaft 131 has its lower end supported in bearings 135 in a supporting plate 136 and its upper end coupled to an intermediate shaft 137 by a universal joint 138. The shaft 137 is supported in bearings 140 in a supporting plate 139. Each beater is driven by a chain 142 driven from the shaft 11 of its corresponding cutter unit 10. Neighbouring beaters 130 are driven in opposite directions while each beater is driven in the same direction to that of its corresponding cutter unit 10. The annular flanges 13 and/or the drums 14 of the cutter units 10 may be provided with ribs to assist the feeding of the cut crops to the conditioner 128. Stationary guide rakes (not shown) are mounted behind the conditioner to ensure that the crops are discharged onto the ground in a clean windrow.
