1514513 Epoxy resins SA TEXACO BELGIUM NV 21 May 1975 21795/75 Heading C3B Linear flame retardant polymers are prepared by reacting a bis-epoxide with a diamine X is O, S or NR (R being an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic group), alternatively; m is 0 or 1; Y is a (cyclo)aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon or a heterocyclic group, a group -NR2 or -NHR, -OR or R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and R<4> are substituents inert to epoxy groups; n<1>, n<2> and n<3> are 0 or an integer. V may be employed in admixture with another diamine. Reaction may be catalysed by hydroxyl containing compounds, e.g. by conducting the reaction in ethanolic solution.
