Abstract
1512824 Compressed air drier with regeneration SOC GENERALE DE CONSTRUCTIONS ELECTRIQUES ET MECANIQUES ALSTHOM 27 June 1975 [3 July 1974] 27380/75 Headings B1L and BIT A compressed air drier (e.g. for a vehicle air brake system) comprises a first metallic fibre filter element 11 in a first filter housing connected in series to a water adsorbent filter of particles (e.g. alumina balls) contained in a second filter housing 2. Perforate screens 7 and 8 retain the metallic fibres, and screens 27 and 22 may be provided to retain the particles. Removable plugs at 24 and 23 are provided to charge and discharge particles as required. Water dust and oil may be withdrawn through valve outlet 19. A removable cover 16 is fitted. Compressed air entering from inlet 4 may be stored in a tank communicating with outlet 21. Reverse flow air to the braking system from storage regenerates the desiccant in housing 2.
