Abstract

1512643 Composite panels M E A PASSMORE 23 May 1975 [21 June 1974] 27718/74 Headings E1K and E1W [Also in Divisions B5 and F2] A rigid structure for large unsupported spans for use in buildings, bridges, ships, oil rigs helicopter landing pads or packaging, comprises a first layer 1 of generally corrugated form having slots in one side thereof extending from the crests of the corrugations, and a plurality of laminal 11 arranged across the corrugations of the first layer and having slots therein so disposed as to enable the laminal to engage and lock into the slots in the first layer at an angle to the plane of the structure. The first layer may be a single sheet of material or a plurality of single crests which may be either closely adjacent or spaced apart. The crests of the corrugations may be curved or flattened. Individual crests may have edge flanges extending in the general plane of the structure. Solid triangular members may be secured adjacent the crests for attaching webs which may completely enclose the structure. Each layer may have stiffened portions where the slots of the other layer engage it. Blanks for forming the first layer are also described. The structure may be made out of cardboard; plastics, wood metal reinforced concrete or glassfibre reinforced cement.
