Abstract

1511360 Adjustable seat backs I H W ENG Ltd 17 Aug 1976 [30 Aug 1975] 35859/75 Heading A4J [Also in Division E2] A seat reclining mechanism comprises a pair of plates 11, 13 hinged about a spindle 22, a first member 17 having a ring of teeth 20 and rigidly connected to plate 13, and a second member 30 mounted on eccentric 24, having a ring of teeth 30b and being resiliently connected to plate 11, the rings of teeth being meshed together and there being more teeth 30b than teeth 20. The resilient connection comprises a latch member 50 mounted on pivots 1 and having a main part 52 and an auxiliary part 53 connected together by a lug 55 in apertures 6, the main part having a hook 54 which connects to boss 42 on the second member 30, a spring 57 connecting auxiliary part 53 to a seat backrest 12 which is carried on plate 11. The resilient connection permits the eccentric motion of member 30 without transmitting it to plate 11. The turning of eccentric 24 effected by knob 37 which rotates spindle 22.
