Stays.-An extensible casement stay consists of two slotted bars a<1>, a<2> pivoted at their free ends to attachment brackets b<1>, b<2> and secured in adjusted position by a clamping-screw d or the like. Each 'bar has at its inner end a projection a' en. gaging in the slot a' of the other. A washer c is applied to one of the projections a<4> to hold the bars together. A spring or other buffer may be provided at either or both ends of the bars for absorbing shocks; a spring e is shown applied to one of the projections a<4>.
