Abstract

1509972 Thermoplastic resin compositions SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO Ltd 23 July 1975 [23 July 1974] 30849/75 Heading C3M Thermoplastic resin compositions comprise (1) a styrene/butadiene block copolymer and (2) a liquid butadiene polymer. The block copolymer may be of form A1B1CB2A2 where A1 and A2 are polystyrene blocks, B1 and B2 are elastomeric blocks of styrene/butadiene copolymer containing 10 to 75 weight per cent styrene, C is a polybutadeine block or styrene/ butadiene copolymer block containing up to 10 weight per cent of styrene, A1 and A2 constitute 40 to 80%, B1 and B2 constitute 10 to 60% and C constitutes 0 to 25% of the copolymer, the ratio A1 : A2 is 2 : 8 to 8 : 2, the ratio B1 : B2 is 0 : 10 to 10 : 0, the total styrene content of copolymer is 65 to 90 weight per cent and the copolymer having an intrinisic viscosity of 0À35 to 1À8 dl./g. (in toluene at 30‹ C.). The liquid polymer may be a polybutadiene, butadiene/ sytrene copolymer or a derivative thereof containing up to 20 weight per cent of maleic anhydride or epoxidized with an organic peracid. The compositions may also contain plasticizers, and are resistant to flexural stress clouding.
