Abstract

1509902 Pipe-line DREDGING & CONSTRUCTION CO Ltd 18 April 1975 [18 Jan 1974] 02440/74 Heading F2G A pipe-line comprises one or more pipe strings each comprising a plurality of pipe sections held in end to end relationship by means of posttensioned tendons extending between anchorages in the respective end pipe sections of the string. Adjacent pipe sections can engage by means of a spigot and socket formation (Fig. 2) and seals 12, 13 and a gasket 14A may be provided. The pipe sections may be of cast concrete with reinforcement 9, 10 and the tendons 4 may pass through tubes 11 in the walls of the concrete pipe sections. The tendons 4 are secured by anchorages 5 (Fig. 3) in the end pipe sections of each string which sections may also be provided with steel tubes 6, 6<SP>1</SP>. Adjacent end pipe sections of respective strings may be joined together by welding said steel tubes 6, 6<SP>1</SP> together as shown in Fig. 3. The joint 7 so formed is then caulked with mortar 8.
