Abstract

1509529 Cooling outboard motors DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 14 Oct 1975 [15 Oct 1974] 44703/74 Heading B7V Before a boat propelled by a water-cooled outboard motor is launched, cooling water is admitted to the motor through a hose (not shown) connected to a connector tube 12, the latter being removably positioned for communication with one of the motor's normal recessed inlet ports. The connector tube 12 is mounted on a plate 10 backed by a layer of rubber 11 which provides a seal around the inlet port. A similar rubber backed plate 20 blanks off the other water inlet port, the two plates being held in position by a rubber strap 16 engaged in grooves 14 in the outer ends of mounting feet 8, 9 on the plates. During or after launching lanyards 6, 7 connected to the feet 8, 9 become tensioned whereby the rubber strap 16 extends to allow the plates to be pulled away from the inlet ports.
