1509257 Height adjustable seats C ROB HAMMERSTEIN GmbH 7 Oct 1975 [9 Oct 1974] 41087/75 Heading A4J [Also in Division F2] A setting device, Fig. 1, for setting the position of a member 2 relative to a member I comprises a double-acting hydraulic piston-and-cylinder unit in which the cylinder 7 is connected to the member 1 and the piston 10 is connected to the member 2 through a pin 11 which engages in slots 9 provided in the cylinder 7, the piston-and-cylinder unit including bushes 13, 16 which slidably support the piston 10, and sealing rings 14, 17 sealing chambers 15, 18 inter-connected by a conduit 21 provided with a shut-off valve 22. In a modification of the embodiment of Fig. 1, a pump is selectively connectable to chambers 15, 18 so as to provide powered adjustment of the length of the setting device. Fig. 4 shows a setting device according to the invention incorporated in a support assembly for supporting a seat (not shown) at an adjustable height.
