Abstract

The novel basic ethers of the formula (I) have an antiarrhythmic effect, increase the threshold for electrical fibrillation, reduce the spontaneous and maximum driving frequency, the excitability of the myocardium and the rate of stimulus transmission. The compounds of the formula (I) are prepared in two ways: 1. amines of the formula (III) are reacted with compounds of the formulae (IIa) or (IIb), or amines of the formula (VII) are reacted with active esters of the formula (VIII), and 2. amines of the formula (III) are condensed reductively with compounds of the formula (IV), or amines of the formula (VII) are condensed reductively with oxo compounds suitable for introducing the group R<5>. The symbols for the compounds of the formula (I-VIII) have the meanings stated in claims 1 and 2.
