Abstract
1507924 Vehicle headlamps ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 16 May 1975 [20 Nov 1974] 20785/75 Heading F4R During heating or cooling of an incandescent lamp 17 in a headlamp air can transfer between the inside and outside spaces 37, 38 of an enclosed reflector assembly, to equalize the pressures, through a channel 26 between doublelip portions 25 of a sealing ring 24. As shown, the channel 26 communicates with these spaces via bores 28 and an aperture 27 in the top and bottom, respectively, of the assembly. The seal 24 is held in a retaining ring 21 which engages a neck 13 on the reflector apex at a bayonet-type joint. The lamp 17 is located by a spring clip 20 which engages the ring 21, also as a bayonet connection. A soft rubber cap 31 closes the rear of the headlamp and snaps over the periphery of the retaining ring 21. A window 30 in the ring 21 connects with an annular channel 29 and the bores 28. The seal ring 24 is preferably of hydrophobic material to minimize misting-up and dust particles may be entrained by baffles within the channel 26 (Figs. 3, 4, not shown).
