Abstract

1507676 Tube assemblies; valves F SUMMERFIELD 3 April 1975 [27 June 1974] 28474/74 Headings F2P and F2V A tube comprising a flexible member 10 having an outer preformed separable fabric reinforcing layer 24 for use in a pinch valve, Fig. 2, has end flanges 12 having reverse directed ribs 14 for positioning the tube in the bore of the pinch valve, and opposing internal shoulders 18, each extending within a segment defined by angle 20, Fig. 1, along a length 16 of the tube wherein the shoulders divide the tube section into two portions, one including the shoulders, having equal circumferential internal lengths such that under action of the pinching plunger 300 one portion is wrapped into the other over the shoulders, Fig. 6. The flexible member 10 is preferably of rubber and the fabric reinforcing layer of polyester and/or nylon yarns arranged such that the warp threads extend axially and the weft threads extend circumferentially of the sleeve. The valve may be operated manually, pneumatically, electrically or hydraulically and may be provided with an indicator comprising a mask 292 progressively visible through window 294 closing the valve.
