Abstract

1507255 Valves J MILLET 17 May 1976 [23 May 1975] 20216/76 Heading F2V A sectorally shaped valve member 3 is operable within a cylindrical housing 1, the curved surfaces 1d, 3c being in contact and one of these surfaces being provided with cavities 3d and the other with at least one groove 1e, 1f. The cavities and grooves collect and discharge foreign matter deposited on the contacting surfaces from the liquid passing from inlet 2 to outlets 1b 1c. The valve is for use in vehicle heating circuits. By arranging cavities in staggered formation in the sector curved surface as in Fig. 2 the whole contact area may be swept by the cavities and the solid matter removed via two grooves with circumferential spacing greater than the arc of the sector. Of the two contacting surfaces, that having cavities is preferably harder than the other and the cavities are preferably formed about axes parallel to the line of symmetry of the sector as in Fig. 3 (not shown).
