Abstract

1506850 Power steering systems CAM GEARS Ltd 15 July 1975 [13 Aug 1974 35571/74 Heading B7H In an hydraulic system having two circuits, eg. steering and brake booster circuits, a control valve 5 closes supply to one circuit if the pressure in the other drops below a given value, the one circuit being continuously supplied by a restricted passage 27, 28 shunting the valve 5. In one arrangement an open centre steering valve 10 and closed centre brake boost valve 16 are connected to valve 5 which includes a spool 20 biased to close supply to the steering circuit. Pressure in the brake circuit accumulator 14 is fed back via line 26 to valve 5 and moves the spool to supply the steering circuit when pressure is sufficient for braking. In another arrangement brake circuit line 9 is not connected to valve 5 but connects supply line 3 between line 27 and valve 5. Rack and pinion steering gear may be used.
