Abstract

Electric appliances; light and other radiations, trcating diseases with.-Relates to apparatus for treating parts of the body with radiant light and heat and simultaneously with intermittent electric current, and consists in an airtight chamber, to be placed over the affected part and to contain the source of radiation, together with an induction coil and electrodes. The box 1, preferably of pyramidal or conical shape, is secured upon the part, e.g. the head, by means of a flexible waterproof skirt 2, and supports one or more electric incandescent lamps 4, supplied through the leads and switch 7, 6, and of the kind used in electric radiators preferably yielding a large proportion of violet or ultra-violet rays. Above a transverse partition 9 is placed a battery 14 for an external induction-coil 15, the leads 16 from which are adjustably secured to copper plates held in place upon the head by a strap 19. Hot air may escape and cold air enter by means of a silde 10 in the partition, which may be operated from the outside, and the whole apparatus may be suspended by a cord attached to a cross-bar 13.
