Abstract

1506393 Distillation column BP CHEMICALS INTERNATIONAL Ltd 12 June 1975 [30 July 1974] 33565/74 Heading BIB A distillation column having a downcomer is provided with horizontal trays 2 perforated on the parts outside the downcomer with or without caps, baffle plates 3, and adjacent to cut away portions are plates 4, the upper edges of which extend above the level of the trays so acting as weirs, the lower edges being attached to plates 5 to deflect liquid onto the tray below. Plates 6, 7 provide with plates 5 the sealed downcomer and gaps "a", of varying dimensions, control the flow of liquid across the trays.
