Abstract

1506156 Phase-shifting networks MARCONI CO Ltd 14 May 1975 [31 July 1974] 33710/74 Heading H3U A phase-shifting circuit comprises a four-part coupler, the arms L1-L4, C1-C4 of which each introduce a phase shift of 90 degrees into a signal of a given frequency, first and second ports of the coupler which are immediately adjacent being connected to equal impedances constituting a mismatch impedance network, such that signals at said frequency arriving at a third, input, port are reflected and appear with a fixed phase shift at the fourth, output, port. As shown the first and second ports are connected via capacitors C5 to impedances each constituted by a varactor diode Dl and tuned inductor L6. The phase of the reflected signals may be varied by varying a control voltage applied to the diodes via chokes 25. Alternatively a fixed phase shift may be provided by replacing each diode-inductor combination by a single fixed capacitor or inductor.
