Abstract
150,593. Roberts, H. J. Jan. 3; 1920. Cleaning casks.-In a machine for scrubbing casks &c., the scrubber device comprises a central spindle 5 carrying a cross-head 7, to which are fixed inner ribs 8, between which and outer ribs 9 pivoted to the cross-head and carrying brushes 12, springs 10 are interposed to expand the outer ribs radially and force the brushes against the interior of the cask; the springs are carried by stems 11 fixed to one set of ribs and sliding through the other set. The pivotal connexion of the ribs 9 with the cross-head may be adjustable. The cast is carried by a table 14, which may be rotated and is centred under the scrubber device by a guide-ring 30 carried by bars 31 adjustable vertically by rack and pinions 32; additional rings 33 of smaller diameter may be attached to the guidering 30. The spindle 5 may be fixed by a screw 6 to a tubular shaft 4. which may be rotated by gearing from the shaft 1, and which may be reciprocated through crank-gearing 25. A ring 34 embracing the ribs of the scrubber device contacts with a vertically adjustable ring 35, when the scrubber device is lifted by pulling down a cable 39, and is forced down over the ribs to hold them in a collapsed condition.
