Abstract

1505888 Hoses GUMMI EHLERS GmbH and CONTINENTAL GUMMI-WERKE AG 25 April 1975 [29 April 1974] 17192/75 Heading F2P An electrically conductive hose, especially suitable for use for conveying fuels in fuelling plants, is made of rubber or rubber-like plastics material and has embedded in the wall thereof textile reinforcing plies and an intermediate layer made of an electrically conductive elastomer and having a maximum thickness equal to the thickness of the plies. The hose is constructed from a mesh-covered or braided hose blank and a rubber outer layer. The intermediate layer may be sprayed directly on to the blank, painted on in solution, wound helically as a foil strip or band or, rolled on the inside surface of the outer layer in the form of a sheet or foil and then applied together with the outer layer on to the hose blank. Preferably the intermediate layer is made from a rubber mixture including carbon black and having an electric resistance of between 10<SP>1</SP> to 10<SP>2</SP> ohm/ cm. and is adhesively connected to the reinforcing plies. The inner or outer layer preferably has electrical conductivity in the order of 10<SP>4</SP> ohm/ cm.
