Abstract

1505499 Gas turbine combustion chambers LUCAS INDUSTRIES Ltd 23 June 1975 [21 June 1974] 27553/74 Heading F1L A gas turbine combustion chamber includes a flame tube 10 having a frusto-conical baffle plate 12 adjacent the air entry 11, the plate having a double-skinned portion 14, 15 with each skin having apertures 17, 18 therein offset from each other so that air entering the space 13 between the skins acts to cool the baffle. The baffle is supported on the tube side wall and end-wall 26 by vanes 19 which allow axial flow at 24 around the outside of the baffle, but are inclined to swirl the air at 22 passing around the inside edge of the baffle plate. The outer skin 14 is attached only to the vanes 19 to allow relative movement between it and inner skin 15. Each skin has two rows of apertures, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown).
