Abstract

1505390 Cooling metal slabs DAVYLOEWY Ltd 2 Dec 1976 [8 Dec 1975] 50237/75 Heading B3M Metal slabs are cut from a hot billet, and while still hot are traversed by a conveyer through a zone where they are force air-cooled, and the heated air is brought into contact with an air-to-liquid heat exchanger. As described, the hot slabs are fed to a device which forms stacks of slabs fed to the conveyer. From the conveyer the slabs, cooled from 950‹ to 350‹ C., are placed in a water tank where they cool to 60‹ C. The heat recovered from the exchanger may be used to heat buildings.
