Abstract

1504864 Reinforcement of portable buildings PORTAKABIN Ltd 7 Aug 1975 [17 May 1974] 21958/74 Heading E1A A prefabricated building unit having a floor, walls and a roof has longitudinal side members in the floor on which the side walls are supported and which side members are reinforced by having secured thereto a lattice work reinforcement girder 13 which also provides recesses for the reception of the ends of floor joists 22. The girder may be formed with top and bottom chords joined by an undulating web. Straps on one side of the girder, spanning the chords adjacent each apex may be provided for fixing to the side of the side members. The undulations of the girder web may be at twice the joists space frequency found elsewhere in the building so that additional joists may be positioned. The unit may be stacked or laterally joined.
