Abstract

1504292 Sound absorbing structure DURRANT ACOUSTICS Ltd 19 Feb 1975 [19 Feb 1974] 7533/74 Headings EIJ and E1W A sound absorbing structure comprises a support 12 to which is fixed a first wall 10 which is separated therefrom by deformable (rubber) material 16 and second wall 24 not directly contacting the support and spaced from the first wall, the cavity between the walls being at least partially filled with particulate material 26. The panels 24 are lined with “" thick neoprene sheeting 32 and the particulate material comprises irregular pebbles or stones of “" to ¢" in diameter. The panels are spaced by a distance of 4 inches which is not a harmonic or sub harmonic of the wavelength to be attenuated (50 c/s). and panel 10 is made of 2 inch thick and panel 24 is 3 inch thick concrete slabs. A door structure, Fig. 3, comprises metal panels 42, 52 enclosing a filling of stones 56 and a sheet of glass reinforced resin 50 bolted to panel 52.
