Abstract

1503911 Transfer printing sheets KODAK Ltd 19 June 1975 [21 March 1974 27 April 1974] 12673/74 and 18524/74 Heading D1B A transfer printing sheet comprises a non- textile support bearing at least one dye of formula: in which D is a conventional dye structure devoid of ionic groups, the carbon atom C is attached to (a) a carbon atom of a benzenoid or heterocyclic ring which is part of the dye structure D, (b) an aromatic benzenoid ring which is attached to dye structure D, or (c) a saturated carbon atom which is linked directly or indirectly to the dye structure D but which is not linked to OH or to the nitrogen atom of an amido group, X is a substituent attached to the carbon atom C and is capable of leaving the dye molecule as a stable anion, R 1 and R 2 are inert substituents as defined attached to C, m is an integer and is the number of reactive groups -(CR 1 R 2 X) attached to the dye structure D. X may be Cl, Br, I, alkylsulphonyloxy, or aryl sulphonyloxy group, R 1 and R 2 may be H, alkyl, aryl, F, Cl or Br, and the dye may be used in a binder. The transfer support may be paper and substrates for printing are fabrics and films of polyesters, polyamides and wool.
